Taxodium
The Taxodium grove is the most important conifer collection, and a landmark itself, counting 30 specimen lined up in rows on the beach.
The Taxodium distichum (Bald Cypress) is a deciduous conifer, native to the southeastern United States, and occurs mainly along riparian wetlands subject to periodic flooding.
Bald Cypresses growing in swamps have a peculiarity of growth called cypress knees. These are woody projections sent above the ground or water that are part of the root system, with function of structural support and stabilization.
In autumn, before the loose the leaves, the color turns yellow, and then copper red.
